Earths Unstable Rotation

In 1985, a Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov, was removing a wing-nut aboard the Salyut 7 space station. He noticed something strange, the wing nut (the nasa video attached below), was fliping its rotation on its axis.

He got frightened and immediately discussed the same with the earth station. And the video of the wing nut flipping on its axis, was kept a secret for many years to come.

The earths precession, or the wobble on earths rotation, have always fascinated me. Also the flipping of earths magnetic field. I can digest the fact, that the magnetic north and south roams around the poles, that is the true magnetic north and south changes its position as the years progress. I can visualize the same, because the eaths magnetism might be caused by current flowing through the cores outher region, and this current path can change. (Though I cannot digest that the rotating core causes the magnetic field.)

When geological history and proof ascertain the fact that the magnetic poles have flipped, it got me thinking, would the axis of rotation have flipped instead.

  • The himalayas and mountain ranges, the force that causes high mountain ranges, should have happened or released in a small window of time (on galactic scale), than at inches per decade. Because the erosion effect would outdo the rise in height at that scale.
  • Folklore, there is a story in South India, about Sage Agasthya moving from north pole to south pole.
  • The gaint errosions, and rocky formation, that cannot happen because of any small flood.
  • An earth cycle that seems to erase history and extintion level events on earth scale, happening every 10 to 20,000 years.
  • When the axis of rotation flips, we will still call the new diretion of Sun rise as east, and the new direction of sun set as west. Same with north and south.
  • After the flip of rotation, the magnetic poles would have flipped too, and then it slowly migrates to the true north. i.e the magnetic flip will also be instantaneous as the rotation flip, but after the flip, the magnetic pole would shift slowly. Because the currents have to catch up.
  • This would put enormous straing on plate tectonics, creating high ranges, crumbling shore lines, huge canyons caused by churning oceans.
Agasthya Star

For anyone interested in astronomy, Agasthiya is a fixed star, like the pole star (Dhruva Star). I have also read that Agasthiya star was used for navigating. A fixed star, by definition is a star, thats too far from earth, that it appears fixed (doesnt move even in cm on the fixed night sky map).

Please note, there are star, that move ever so slightly, these are called roaming or asthira stars. A whole chapter can be dedicated to find fixed or non fixed star, this relies on culutral memory of a society. Since the positions have to be noted, on a time scale that is beyond one human life.

A star, cannot move more than a few seconds, never more than a degree. Here we are speaking about moving from north to south. Thats not possible, unless it was a space station. But given its brightness, we can assume that the ancients referred to an actual star.

What remains here, is earth flipping on its axis.

How would we know that the earth has flipped on its axis ?

Without instruments, and with plain observation. What all living creatures on earth would notice is not the magnetic pole shift, it is the direction of the sun rising and setting.

The sun would have risen on the opposite side. This sounds absurd.

As a civilzation we have a habit of throwing memories down the drain, which does not adhere to certain standards or current prevailing thought. Maybe there is some observation on a book in Tibet or Vatican that would have noted this.
